The Pretty Reckless (with a little help from Crash Midnight and Adelita’s Way) took the city of Columbus straight to Hell Tuesday night (10/28) & we LOVED every minute of it, from the eerie opening sounds of “Follow Me Down”, through the encore of the band’s current hit, “Fucked Up World”, which included a 7 minute drum solo. The set was full of everything from haunting acoustic songs to seductive, hard rocking tracks off of various albums and EPs released by the band.

The show started out with a short set from Crash Midnight. If you haven’t heard of them yet, you are sure to soon as this band will be headed to the top fast. Their sound is very raucous, raw and edgy, reminiscent of early Guns N Roses, something that many argue rock needs more of. The type of energy and attitude that hard rock bands of the mid 1980’s had. Their 6 song set included a cover of GNR’s “Mr. Browstone” as well as “151”, “Made For The Money”, “City Girl”, “Welcome To Boston” and “Diamond Boulevard”.

Next to take the stage were Las Vegas natives, Adelita’s Way. Lead singer Rick DeJesus, kept the crowd moving all night, even bringing fans up onstage to crowd surf throughout the set. The band (which consists of Trevor Stafford (drums) Robert Zakaryan (guitar), Andrew Cushing (bass) & Rick DeJesus (vocals) ), played fan favorites “Sick” and “Alive” as well as singles off of their new album, Stuck, which was released on July 29th of this year.

If you needed more proof that Little J is all grown up, you have it. Hailing from New York, Taylor Momsen (lead vocals), Ben Phillips (guitar, vocals), Mark Damon (bass) and Jamie Perkins (drums) have managed to form a band with a chemistry like no other found in modern hard rock at the moment. The Pretty Reckless released their sophomore album earlier this year, called Going To Hell. The band is currently the only female – fronted band to top the Billboard Mainstream Rock Chart with their first two hits (“Fucked Up World” and “Heaven Knows” both reached # 1).

Heavily influenced by an eclectic mix of some of rock’s biggest legends, The Pretty Reckless are like The Runaways, The Beatles and Guns N Roses all wrapped into one bad ass package. They are raw, rebellious and powerful, with a haunting yet dark, mysterious sound. The chart topping hard rock band took the stage at 10 for a 1 and a half hour set filled with their biggest hits as well as rarely played tracks. As soon as the opening chords of “Follow Me Down” blasted out of the amps and Taylor ran out onstage, the Newport erupted with a sizzling, chaotic, passionate energy and the crowd went wild . Fans were crowd surfing, screaming their hearts out and singing along like their lives depended on it.  Taylor & Co played “House On A Hill” live for the first time ever (which made this girl very happy, as it is in my opinion the best song off of Going To Hell).  Mark my words. 20 years from now, The Pretty Reckless will be legends, just as those who have come before them and inspired so many.
