What do confetti, strippers, smoke, fireworks, shadow boxes, pentagrams roadies with squirt guns, a roller coaster drum set,a bass that shoots fire, straight jackets, leather pants, hair spray, a guillotine, bubbles, balloons, loud guitars & a snake have in common? The answer? A night with shock rock’s finest, Alice Cooper & Motley Crue.

This is the last time Motley Crue will ever tour.

Just let that sink in.

One of the greatest hard rock bands of the 80’s,which has released 9 records, sold out arenas across the world and, most importantly, inspired so many fans to pick up an instrument and rock out.

Wednesday night’s show @ The First Niagara Pavilion in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania started out with a set from The Raskins, an NYC based band that just put out their debut album. The lights went down and during the 15 minute intermission, the stage was transformed by roadies in skeleton suits into the equivalent of a rock and roll circus in hell.

Seriously. Included in a night with the talented Alice Cooper (who has had a major influence on Motley, their style and their music) are clown heads, death by a guillotine, evil nurses, straight jackets, snakes, balloons and, of course, bubbles.

Fire rained down, the guitars were cranked and Alice & the band were ready to wake the dead.

The band went through some of Alice’s biggest hits, including School’s Out, I’m Eighteen, No More Mr. Nice Guy, Poison & Welcome To My Nightmare. Alice’s three guitarists (Ryan Roxie , Nita Strauss (who came on this year as Orianthi’s replacement) & Tommy Henriksen) had an insane amount of chemistry onstage that kept the crowd in awe throughout the set.

Alice continuously kept the crowd entertained, throwing fans necklaces during “Dirty Diamonds” and shaking fake billion dollar bills off of a sword into the audience during “Billion Dollar Babies”.

The band ended the impressive set with “School’s Out” and a cover of Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick In The Wall”.

Next, the stage was once again transformed buy Alice’s minions , this time with shadowboxes, fog machines, pentagrams and a whole lot of fire.

The lights went up and so did the flames as Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee, Mick Mars and the main man himself, Vince Neil ran onstage and started off the show with “Saints Of Los Angeles”.

Motley’s stage affects & set up leaves nothing to disappoint and neither do they, blaring through 14 of their greatest hits before Nikki Sixx stopped the show and sat down on the stage for story time, to tell the audience how the band formed. Next, Tommy Lee did the most impressive drum solo I have ever seen… on a roller coaster drum set… upside down.

Next, Mick Mars took over the spotlight for an amazing guitar solo and the band launched into “Livewire” and perhaps their 2 biggest hits, “Girls, Girls, Girls” (Pole dancers included) and “Kickstart My Heart” .

Fireworks went off, Confetti flew everywhere, the crowd went crazy and the band took their final bows.

The lights went down, but the night wasn’t over yet.

Security kept the audience in the pavilion as a stage was revealed in the middle of the crowd. Tommy Lee took a seat at the piano and the band the band’s most popular ballad, “Home Sweet Home” as an emotion filled end to a hard rocking night.

“I swear to fucking god we’re going to haunt you till the day you die” – Nikki Sixx

and they will. Motley Crue will haunt you till the day you die. Those four guys that banded together to rock will live on for decades through the generations of artists they have inspired. They are legends. They may never tour again. Some may say Motley is dead, but they will never die. Their music will live forever.
